Where to Begin
Two key questions we're often asked.
01 — Why Jesus?
Why Jesus, and not
something else?
Generally, every religion has a notable founder and teaches people to do good. However, Jesus Christ claimed to actually be God, be able to forgive sins, and was resurrected from the dead. Why does that matter, and is it even true?
01
He is not a legend.
Jesus of Nazareth is among the best-attested figures of the ancient world. Historians who share none of Christianity's convictions agree that he lived, had a significant following, and was executed under Pontius Pilate. Whatever your view of Jesus, he is not a legend or made-up character.
02
He said things no good teacher says.
Among other things, Jesus claimed to have authority to forgive sins committed against other people and he allowed others to worship him. While religious teachers claim to show the way to God, Jesus claimed to be God. Jesus, therefore, cannot be reduced to a wise guru. Either he was deluded, or he was telling the truth.
03
He did for you what you cannot do for yourself.
Christianity teaches that good and moral works cannot save us because each person is sinful by nature. Rather we are saved and forgiven by grace: Jesus lives the life we should have lived, and died in our place under God's judgement, and rose again to defeat death and darkness. Instead of trying harder, faith starts by surrendering, receiving Jesus, and receiving His mercy.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
Jesus · John 14:6

Ask us a question02 — What is Baptism?
A public yes to what
God has already done.
What Baptism Is
-
A public declaration of an inner belief.
-
A picture of following Jesus from death to resurrection – going beneath the waters and rising again to new life.
-
The entrance into the local church, God's family.
What Baptism Isn't
-
A saving ritual. It is only faith in Jesus that saves, baptism is a reflection of that faith.
-
A 'level up'. This is an earnest step of obedience, not a way to earn more merit.
-
A performance. It's not about getting things 'just right', rather it's about making a sincere commitment.
